Browser cookies

This site remembers two things in your browser and nothing more, unless you agree. The details are below, including the names of the items.

The basics

What cookies are and what we do with them

What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to keep. Browsers can also hold similar items in local storage, which works much the same way. They let a site remember a choice so it does not ask the same question every time you visit. Some cookies expire when you close the browser, while others stay until you remove them.

Kinds we use

We use two items that the site needs in order to behave sensibly: one remembers that you have confirmed you are eighteen or over, and the other remembers whether you have answered the cookie notice. Neither one identifies you, and neither is shared with anybody. They hold a short key and a single value, and they never travel to our servers.

Analytics tags

The site is prepared to work with analytics, but its default setting is off. Tags that measure visits or interests will not run until you accept the cookie notice, and the notice's wording says so. If you decline or ignore it, nothing of the sort is loaded, and the site works exactly the same either way.

Your choices

Consent, defaults and changing your mind

The default is off

Until you press the accept button in the cookie notice, the optional storage categories are denied. Only the two plain items listed below are set, because the site cannot remember your age answer without them. Everything else stays switched off until you say otherwise.

How to manage consent

You can clear the stored items at any time in your browser's settings, which will bring the notice and the age question back at your next visit. Most browsers also let you block cookies from particular sites or all sites, though some pages may then ask the same questions again. Private or incognito windows forget everything when they close, so the notice returns each time.

The map on the contact page

The map on the Visit and directions page is loaded straight away from a third-party provider. That provider may set its own cookies when the map appears, and we have no control over them. If you would rather not receive them, skip that page or block third-party cookies in your browser. The rest of the site works the same without it, and the address is printed on the page for anyone who prefers a paper map.
