Looking after your data

We keep very little about our guests, and we keep it for a short time. This page explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

In plain words

What happens to the details you give us

Who is responsible

The personal information collected through this website is handled by the operator of the venue, named on the About page and in the footer. The operator decides why and how your details are used, and answers to you for it. Day-to-day, the front desk at Mitchell Street looks after the bookings book and the inbox.

Who else sees it

Your details are seen by the host, the floor manager and the kitchen when allergies are involved. They are not sold, rented or passed to advertisers. The only outsiders are the e-mail and hosting providers that carry messages for us, and they are bound to treat the contents as private.

Your rights

You can ask to see what we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. Write to the booking address in the footer or ring the front desk and we will respond within a reasonable time. You may also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner if you feel we have not dealt with your request properly.

What the forms collect

The booking form asks for your name, e-mail address, date, time, number of guests and an optional note about allergies or celebrations. The private-evening enquiry adds an optional mobile number. We collect nothing else, and the forms on this site do not take payment details of any kind.

Why we collect it

We use your details to confirm a table or a seat, to plan the kitchen around any allergies, to reply to an enquiry and to ring you if something changes. We do not use them for marketing, for profiling or for any reason unrelated to your visit.

Why we are allowed to

You choose to send the form, and ticking the consent box tells us you are happy for the details to be used for the purposes above. Without that consent we cannot act on a request, and you can withdraw it at any time by contacting the front desk.

How long we keep it

Booking details are kept for the evening in question and for a short time afterwards in case a guest leaves something behind or a question arises. After that the entry is deleted from the booking book and the inbox, usually within a few weeks. Allergy notes are not stored beyond the booking they belong to.

Where cookies fit in

This site stores two small items in your browser to remember your age confirmation and your cookie choice. They are described on the Browser cookies page, with their names and how long they last.

Short answers

Privacy questions we hear

Do you put me on a mailing list?

No. Your e-mail address is used to answer the message you sent, and for nothing else. We do not send newsletters, offers or reminders you did not ask for.

Can you delete my booking?

Yes. Ring or write and we will remove it from the book and the inbox. If you have a booking for the same evening we will tell you before we do it.

Do you record the felt room?

We do not film the tables or record sound. The front hall has a basic entry camera for safety, whose footage is overwritten in a few days.
